A big honor ... and a big move!

I'm thrilled to share that IN GUNS WE TRUST has been named 2026 Book of the Year by the Religion News Association -- an organization representing the world's top religion journalists.
The judges said:
"A lot has been written about evangelicals’ relationship with guns, but journalist William J. Kole’s book feels more urgent than many previous explorations. Yet he never loses his objectivity. The results are scary, mind-boggling and more relevant than ever before."

I was in Atlanta last month at RNA's annual conference for the award presentation. Joining me there was the incomparable Valerie Weaver-Zercher, my editor at Broadleaf Books, whose light and perceptive touch made IN GUNS WE TRUST immeasurably better. (Thank you, Valerie!)

Meanwhile, I have more big life news to share: I've moved to Paris!
I worked in the French capital in the mid-1990s while an AP foreign correspondent, and I'm overjoyed to return. Few places on Earth are as inspiring to a writer as Paris.
C'est belle, la vie!
